چکیده

Electronic circuit simulation programs like SPICE have built-in models for semiconductor devices like MOSFET and BJT. However, they do not provide models for electrochemical sensors like ISFETs (Ion-Sensitive Field-Effect Transistors). This paper presents a behavioral macromodel for ISFET-based pH-sensors implemented using PSPICETM. The macromodel is then utilized to present a comparative analysis of four different insulators, viz.: SiO2, Si3N4, Al2O3 and Ta2O5 used as sensing films for the ISFET. Simulations of ISFET devices with Al2O3 and Ta2O5 sensing films showed better performance with sensitivities of 58.8 mV/pH and 59.15 mV/pH, respectively. This complements the previously reported experimental and theoretical behaviour of ISFETs. Performance of corresponding MOSFET test structure using SILVACO simulations with the same insulators in the gate region is also presented.

Enhanced methanol sensing performance of oblique deposited WO3 thin films

Methanol (CH3OH) is a colorless liquid with a mild odor. The wide ranges of applications, toxicity and clinical implications of methanol have made necessary to develop reliable and high-performance methanol sensors. In this paper, WO3 thin films were deposited on SiO2/Si substrates by e-beam evaporation technique under normal and oblique angles and then post-annealed at 500 °C with a flow of ox...

Fabrication, characterization and investigation of gas sensing properties of MoO3 thin films

In this research, molybdenum oxide (α-MoO3) thin films were coated on glass substrates using spray pyrolysis technique. 0.05 M ammonium heptamolybdate tetrahydrate was used as precursor and deionized water as solvent. The effects of carrier gas pressure, during the spraying of the solution, on the structural, optical, morphological and gas sensing properties of thin films were studied. X-ray di...

Preparation and characterization of nanostructured materials for an artificial olfactory sensing system

Pure and Ni-, Pt-, Pd-, Os-doped tin oxide and pure and Fe-doped indium oxide thin films have been prepared by the sol–gel process. The microstructural properties of the as-prepared films have been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD). All the samples showed a polycrystalline structure that resulted to be dependent on the presence of the particular doping element. Integrated gas mic...
